▲ Strengthening the Ophthalmology & Optometry diagnostic devices lineup to create synergy.
-Huvitz, a healthcare medical device company led by CEO Kim Hyun-soo, announced on the 4th the launch of its Optical Biometry ‘HBM-1’, which implements an optimized workflow for cataract surgery.
Optical biometry is a non-contact cataract examination device that calculates corneal information, the length of the eye, the depth of the anterior chamber, and the refractive power of the intraocular lens, making it an essential diagnostic tool for cataract surgery.
Huvitz has launched the HBM-1, a 2-in-1 device that integrates Optical Biometry and Corneal Topography, capable of performing 10 tests simultaneously. It calculates the accurate IOL power using various formulas, providing an optimized workflow for cataract surgery.
With proven light interference technology, the HBM-1 accurately measures four biometric values for cataract surgery, ensuring reliable data without deviations based on operator skill. Additionally, it allows for the comparison of various combinations of patient condition, IOL brand, type, and formulas to provide prescriptions, and offers premium lens prescriptions that can correct astigmatism, myopia, and presbyopia simultaneously.
According to the company, cataract surgery must be performed after a thorough assessment of an individual’s eye condition to achieve the best possible outcome, making it crucial to provide reliable test results.
Additionally, the Myopia Management program enables a wide range of applications, from monitoring to regular management. By monitoring the patient’s vision history, including AL (axial length) and refractive changes, it allows for comparison of changes before and after glasses and ortho-k lens prescriptions, detection of strabismus, and tracking changes in eye health, thereby establishing long-term treatment plans.
Another advantage is the user-centered examination environment. The device easily integrates with DICOM, allowing for the analysis of patient examination data across various devices. Additionally, with a built-in PC, all measurements and analysis reports can be viewed directly on the LCD screen without the need for a separate PC, which not only reduces consultation time but also increases testing efficiency. The company expects that the HBM-1, with its speed, accuracy, convenience, and cost competitiveness, will become a new alternative in cataract diagnostic equipment.
A representative from Huvitz stated, ‘As the growth of ophthalmic diagnostic devices continues to expand, the launch of a product essential for cataract surgery has broadened our Ophthalmology & Optometry lineup.’ He also added, ‘We will focus on specializing the strengths of each product to create synergy between them.
