Huvitz Actively Practicing ESG Management to Fulfill Social Responsibility
Huvitz (CEO Kim Hyun-soo), a healthcare medical device company, announced on the 22nd that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Blindness Prevention Foundation to support surgery costs for eye diseases and prevent blindness among medically underserved populations.
The Korea Blindness Prevention Foundation, established to contribute to the improvement of national eye health through blindness prevention and treatment activities, leads initiatives such as providing surgery cost support for low-income individuals, conducting eye examinations in underserved areas, and offering vision impairment consultations to prevent blindness and improve eye health.
The MOU focuses on the following key points:
- Supporting surgery costs for medically underserved individuals
- Providing mobile diagnostic buses
- Jointly promoting eye health campaigns
Despite the steady increase in the prevalence of cataracts, glaucoma, and retinal diseases each year, many underserved and low-income individuals are often unable to afford treatment and do not seek medical help. To address this issue, the partnership will provide financial assistance for eye treatment and surgery to low-income patients who are unable to receive appropriate care due to economic constraints. Additionally, Huvitz will provide a mobile eye diagnostic bus equipped with cutting-edge ophthalmic equipment such as OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) and Optical Biometry. The bus will visit areas with limited access to medical institutions, offering early diagnosis, follow-up care, and preventive education for eye diseases.
A representative of Huvitz stated, “We hope that this agreement will provide an opportunity for underserved individuals in need of ophthalmic treatment, such as cataracts, glaucoma, and retinal detachment, to receive timely care.” He added, “Moving forward, we will work with the Korea Blindness Prevention Foundation to protect the eye health of people in underserved areas and continue to actively practice ESG management as part of our social responsibility.”
Meanwhile, Huvitz, which has been involved in various charitable activities every year in collaboration with several organizations, including providing free eyeglasses and strabismus surgery fees for underserved groups, conducting free vision tests for military personnel, and offering employee volunteer services, is expanding its social contribution efforts this year by supporting the treatment and surgery for severe eye diseases.
