Huvitz Launches 5-in-1 Optical Coherence Tomography Device ‘HOCT’

▲Expectations for a Full-scale Expansion into the Global Ophthalmology Medical Device Market

– uvitz, a company specializing in Ophthalmology & Optometry medical devices (CEO Kim Hyun-Soo), announced on the 15th the launch of the world’s first PC-based 5-in-1 Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) device, ‘HOCT’.

OCT is a representative retinal imaging device used to diagnose eye diseases and monitor treatment progress, and it currently holds the highest usage share in the ophthalmic medical imaging device market.

The HOCT released by Huvitz is the world’s first PC-based 5-in-1 device that integrates retinal imaging (OCT), fundus camera, angiography, optical biometry, and corneal topography. This device allows for retinal imaging, fundus examination, retinal capillary imaging, corneal topography, and intraocular lens power measurement—all in one, enabling comprehensive diagnosis and testing with a single device.

Especially, by cross-referencing suspected lesions identified in the OCT scan with retinal capillary imaging, intraocular lens power measurement, and other tests, more accurate diagnoses can be made.

Additionally, based on Huvitz’s proprietary optical technology and image processing algorithms, the HOCT can scan and correct up to 45 images per second, enabling the acquisition of high-quality optical images. Since the human eye is delicate and moves quickly, capturing precise and stable high-resolution images is not easy, which is why the company emphasizes the importance of achieving such precision in ophthalmic OCT devices.

Additionally, as the system integrates multiple diagnostic devices with a PC, various analyses and diagnostic results can be obtained all at once, eliminating the need for patients to move between different machines. This not only reduces consultation time but also enhances the efficiency of the examination.

The compact design is another major advantage of the HOCT. Its efficient use in narrow and limited spaces is expected to generate high demand among domestic ophthalmologists.

A representative from Huvitz stated, “The product excels in image quality, cost competitiveness, user convenience, and space efficiency compared to foreign products,” and added, “We expect that ophthalmologists will show increased interest as the range of diagnostic equipment options, which has previously been limited to foreign products, expands.

Huvitz holds the number one market share in the domestic refractor market and third in the global market, and with the launch of the 5-in-1 Optical Coherence Tomography Device (HOCT), the company plans to strengthen its expansion into both the domestic and global ophthalmology & optometry medical device markets.
